Ministry of Security of the Russian Federation

The Ministry of Security of the Russian Federation (MBRF)  (MB RF) was a short-lived successor to the KGB of the USSR between January 1992 and December 1993. It replaced the Committee for State Security (KGB) and became responsible for internal security and counterintelligence in Russia. The first Minister of Security was Viktor Pavlovich Barannikov, a graduate of the Kazan branch of the Yelabuga Police School.

Notably, in that same January 1992, another graduate of the Yelabuga Police School — Viktor Fyodorovich Yerin — became Russia's Minister of Internal Affairs.
