Sektor Gaza

«The Day’s Gone By and You’re Still Alive» («День прошел, а ты все жив») is a song by Sektor Gaza, a punk rock band from Voronezh fronted by the singer and songwriter Yuri Khoy (Yuri Klinskikh), enormously popular across Russia in the early-to-mid 1990s for lyrics that mixed working-class gallows humor, deliberate crudeness, and blunt, deadpan observations about post-Soviet daily life. The band’s cassette tapes circulated everywhere from provincial markets to auto garages, making them close to the default soundtrack for exactly the kind of grimy, unglamorous manual labor going on in Fedya’s chop shop.
